Social Justice Takes MLK's Name in Vain
Happy Martin Luther King Day. I see we've reached the point where almost all of the propaganda, I mean "news" stories, being promoted on this day are no longer about the man, his ideas and his accomplishments, but are instead finger wagging at anyone who would dare to read his words and consider them thoughtfully.
Like Squealer in "Animal Farm," the Cathedral has the sheep out behind the barn for new programming and is busy churning out article after article ALL telling us: "Politicians (but not all politicians, just Republicans) are twisting MLK's words! They are misusing them! Don't believe them. Don't listen to their MLK quotes. Don't let them cause you to think for yourself!"
Bloomberg's headline is MLK Day to Draw Divisions as Politicians Misuse His Words. NBC tells us, MLK Disobeyed Unjust Laws. The State of America Today Requires That We Not Forget That. When you open it up, the headline actually changes to, The Part of MLK's Legacy That Politicians Today Conveniently Like to Forget. The Grio blares, Don't Let Politicians Use MLK's Name in Vain.
What are the words they most don't want you to hear?
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
Why would Social Justice, an ideology that claims to be about ending racism, want to prevent you from considering these words at all costs? Because Social Justice is NOT about ending racism. It's about furthering it.
Martin Luther King, and the movement he represented, was not about judging people and treating them differently on the basis of race. On the contrary. The idea that we should each be judged on the content of our individual character, and not by our race is called Individualism. And it's the idea that beat racism back.
Racism, like Sexism, is a kind of Collectivism. It's the idea that a person should be judged and treated differently based on what collective (or group) they belong. White Supremacy is both a kind of racism and a kind of collectivism. Social Justice is both a kind of racism and a kind of collectivism. Collectivism will never defeat collectivism. Racism will never defeat racism.
MLK succeeded in helping change the hearts and minds of people because he appealed to our common humanity, instead of to the race and identity groups that divide us. Look at his writing. It's littered with "we," "us" and "our." He appealed to our better nature.
Social Justice, like White Supremacy, asks us to become worse versions of ourselves. It's centered around Us/Them divisive language. It's all about teaching us to ignore the content of a person's character and instead to judge them and treat them diferently on the basis of race (and sex, and sexuality, etc). It hands out racist and sexist phrases you can use to indict people on the basis of their race or sex alone: "white fragility," "male privilege," "white tears."
They want to tell us that we can't utter MLK's name or think about his words, because they want to pretend they own him, so they can invert and pervert his ideas. They are engaged in a game of projection - accusing others of the very thing they are attempting to do: Misuse his words. Use his name in Vain.
Don't let them.
