You Can't Save The World
You Can Only Make Your Corner of It Better By Getting Your House in Order
For anyone who needs to hear it:
You can’t save the whole world. Only God can. If you’re feeling powerless and in angst about the evil in the world, know that the only thing we can do is to try to do what is good and true, according to God. In every day, in all of the small choices. God is the Alpha and the Omega. He has overcome the world.
If we try to shoulder the burden of the world, only God can do that. And we’ll make ourselves mad.
Like Jordan Peterson said: Make your bed. Clean your room. Take control of the things you actually have the most degree of power over. Start with the innermost circle of things you have control over: your home. Then spread outwards. Get your house in order, literally and figuratively.
We are not “powerful” people like the elites. But with God’s grace, we have the power of the Holy Spirit. We can stop making excuses, stop lying, stop being a drunk, stop being a drug addict, stop overeating, stop overspending, stop being a degenerate, stop passing the buck.
God made us to be cultivators, right? In the garden, my pastor, Bradley Helgerson, describes Adam almost like a gardener or game warden. We are meant to take the raw material God creates and transform it with human effort and talent into something beautiful and useful and pleasing to the Lord.
We can make wheat into bread. Or sounds into music. We can garden. We can build things. We can make art. We can make people laugh. We can create, instead of destroy. On the small scale - every day.
Too much “social” media drives us mad. We have to take breaks from it or some leave it altogether. Probably the most sane.
I’ve read that article going around about AI replacing all white collar jobs within 1-5 years. You’ve probably read it. It reminded me how humans will always need or want *some* things to be done by human hands. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers. I think people will always want to see a painter working on a piece in front of them. A musician performing live in front of them. A comedian cracking jokes live in front of them. Even if digital media eventually becomes nothing but AI slop art/music/comedy.
I’m still thinking about what this means for the future, when we are long gone like specks of dust, and I think it’s pointing us back towards creating things, building things, growing things.
Getting in touch with God.
When you’re in angst, turn off the computer and read your Bible.

That’s the reason I have followed Jordan Peterson for many years.
He has often said the reason Leftists always pursue impossible goals…Climate Change for example…because they will never be held accountable for their failure.
Make your bed. Clean your room. Know over whom you have authority and unless you have small children it is you.
“Stand up straight. Draw an imaginary circle around your feet. Everything inside the circle you can control. Everything outside you cannot. Only worry about what you can control and leave the rest to God.”
Those words from a dear friend changed my life years ago.
