If you like my writing, this is the easiest way to know when I have a new essay up. I’m the host of Deprogrammed, a podcast about leaving my old ideology, which is most often described as Social Justice or Woke ideology. I spent twenty years as a true believer in Woke. I picked it up at Duke University and took it into my career in entertainment, managing comedians and producing woke comedy specials and series like “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.”
In 2016 and 2017 I started leaving my old belief system, which took a while. Leaving any cult is a slow process. In 2017 I started Civility Dinners, where people of differeing opinions come together to have conversations while breaking bread. In 2018 I started podcasting and interviewing academics like James Lindsay, Bret Weinstein, and Dr. Charles Murray, journalists like Barbara Kay and Libby Emmons, cultural commentators like Zuby, Eric July, Gary from Nerdrotic, Comix Division, Jeremy from Geeks and Gamers, Drunk3p0, and Az from Heel vs Babyface, comedians like Chrissie Mayr, Geno Bisconte and Lila Hart, dancers like Martina Markota, knitters like Maria Tusken, Maree Buscke, Neil James from Blocked Magazine, Tabitha from MurderKnits, and the Deplorable Knitter and Anne Pinkava from Politically Incorrect Knitters. My goal for all of my interviews, no matter the person I am talking to, is this: to help myself and others understand woke (social justice) ideology better & help people to fight it in whatever way they feel comfortable.
