Every word of this resonates with my soul. It took my second divorce to acknowledge & fully embrace this. The part about saying this to our younger selves is especially painful for me right now as I witness my daughter and her husband's marriage fall apart. Several weeks ago I wrote her and said nearly identical words-what words would have made the difference to my younger self? To stop the path of self-destruction & ruining of my marriage? Unfortunately I don’t have the answer & I couldn’t get her to see the path she was taking. And then, her husband moved out & filed for divorce. For weeks and weeks he had been begging her to work on it, but she stubbornly refused. Now she is devastated & realizes she pushed him to this. And my heart is breaking.

Excellent. Yes. Marriage must be treated as sacred. A covenant that does penetrate beyond the physical. This has become increasingly clear to me as well, even in the secular world.
